Data we collect and why

As part of our activities as a kitesurf school, we collect and process the following categories of data:

• Identity data (surname, first name, date of birth): registration for lessons, courses and rentals, and administrative documents.
• Contact data (e-mail, phone, postal address): management of bookings, course-related communication (confirmations, reminders, weather alerts) and, with your consent, sending of information.
• Health data (fitness declaration, weight if declared): essential for your safety and that of the instructors during a high-risk sport, processed solely on the basis of your explicit declaration.
• Skill level (self-assessment and instructor observations): adaptation of teaching and safety.
• Payment data (amount, method, date, deposit status): transaction management. We store no card numbers; payments are processed by our providers (PayPal, Viva Wallet).

Legal basis

Processing is based on the performance of the service contract, on your consent (health data, marketing communications) and on compliance with our legal and safety obligations.

Tools and processors

We use third-party tools acting as processors: the Bookly booking system, the WooCommerce platform, the Brevo e-mailing service and our hosting provider. They access your data only for service purposes and are bound by confidentiality.

Retention period

Your data is kept for 3 years from your last lesson, then deleted. Some data is kept longer where required by law (in particular accounting obligations).

Sharing your data

We do not share your data with any third party for commercial purposes. It may be disclosed to our insurer only in the event of a documented incident requiring a declaration.

Your rights

In accordance with Regulation EU 2016/679 (GDPR), you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. To exercise them, write to info@kitesurfbelgium.be. We respond within a maximum of 30 days.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA): www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
